When to hire a contractor

In the age of the internet, we all like to save money & mental stress by doing most things ourselves. There’s nothing a YouTube tutorial can’t fix, right? Wrong! For a variety of home projects, the easier, smoother, and sometimes cheaper option is to simply hire an experienced contractor.

Our mission at Kelleher Renovations is to make your improvement project as seamless & stress-free as possible. Whether you’re looking to do a multi-stage project, storm damage repair, or accessibility renovations to your home, there are many circumstances that could lead one to hire help rather than DIY it.

Multi-stage Project

A huge portion of our job is networking and connecting with businesses in the area. That means when we’re doing a full remodel, we have trusted local subcontractors who can assist with plumbing, electrical, etc. You won’t have to worry about keeping the revolving door of workers straight, as we’ll be your point of contact for it all. We schedule and monitor all partners on jobs, while keeping you updated at every stage of the project.

Busy Schedule

We all seem to have too much on our plate these days. When we do a project ourselves, it goes from a 2-3 day commitment to 2-3 weeks without a functional sink in the bathroom, and that’s not ideal! If you already have a jam-packed schedule, look into local contractors to do the work for you. This saves you time and mental space!

Storm Damage

In SWFL, we all have experience with inclement weather. Unfortunately, storm damage is usually not confined to what the eye can see. Kelleher Renovations is a licensed mold remediation business. That means if your home is damaged, we can identify mold and underlying issues, resolve them, and help you build back your home. These projects also come with a heavy emotional tie, as they’re almost always unexpected, and can damage not only a hard earned home, but the memories inside. We’re experienced in these projects, and take the utmost care to get you back to normal as swiftly as possible.

Unforeseen Challenges

Many projects wait to unveil smaller challenges until after they’ve begun. If you’ve already begun a DIY renovation, and realize there’s more to be done than expected, ask a contractor to step in! We’ve all been there before. The benefit of hiring someone experienced is they’ve likely seen the issue before. As we assess new projects, we go in-depth to the what ifs, to ensure we’re adequately prepared the first time around.

Accessibility Renovations

As we age, we don’t always rush to leave the place we call home. Your space can and should adapt to the needs of your life. If you’re physically unable to complete the necessary adjustments to your home, regardless of how big or small the project, Kelleher Renovations is here to help. We have bountiful experience with appliance installation, functional renovations, and handyman work.

Savings!

The biggest draw for DIY projects is undeniably the savings that come along with it. Granted you wouldn’t be paying for someone else’s time & labor, you should consider the added cost of your own time, extra research, potential mistakes, & permitting (a frequently painstaking part of home projects).

Sometimes, it really is cheaper and easier to do a small project yourself. However, when considering larger projects, or special circumstances arise, consider hiring a licensed contractor to assist! At Kelleher Renovations, we offer free estimates, and would love to help!
